Brick & Mortar owners opening seafood-forward Tierra Verde restaurant - Tampa Bay Times

Brick & Mortar and In Bloom Catering and Event Planning owners Hope Montgomery and Jason Ruhe are working on a second local restaurant. Shooting for an opening the first half of February, the wife-and-husband team plan to make a splash in Tierra Verde with Sea Worthy Fish + Bar.

Inspired by Ruhe and Montgomery’s love of the water, Sea Worthy at 1110 Pinellas Bayway S will offer a seafood-heavy menu that lets fresh catches from the Gulf and other locales shine. The 150-seat restaurant will also fulfill their longtime hope “for a location where the view from the office is the water,” Montgomery said.

They view Sea Worthy as the coastal sibling to their more urban dining spot Brick & Mortar, launched in downtown St. Petersburg in 2015.

The menu remains in development, but anticipated dishes include ceviche, local fish, smoked fish and non-seafood options. To start, the new restaurant will only do dinner. Weekend lunch and brunch are expected to follow shortly thereafter.

As for the beverage program, that promises beer, wine and spirits.

“Expect a fun and funky, yet approachable, wine list and handmade cocktails inspired by the coast,” Montgomery said.

The outdoor patio area with a few tables overlooks the water. But according to Montgomery, there’s a nice view pretty much no matter where you sit.

And don’t worry — Sea Worthy’s counterpart in the city isn’t going anywhere.

“Brick & Mortar will continue to operate as usual downtown,” Montgomery said. “We love our home there, and we have an amazing and supportive crew.”
